Hunting an adhesive recommendation

Q) Thoughts on using an aluminum strip work as reinforcement if attached using JB Weld?

Harbor Freight has a ~ 1 and 1/4 wide aluminum ruler for like $2 ish and it can be easily cut and molded ...

I would rough it up and make sure it is clean.

After all of the angst and handwringing, I simply cleaned the area with soapy water and an alcohol pad, and then applied a strip on duct tape before reinstalling the fender. The JB Weld is none the wiser.

If the tape has disappeared the next time I do tires, I'll clean'er up and affix a new strip.
