Here's a tremendously helpful video that I'm sure all of you will find well worth your time.

I always question when the "safety experts" when they mention wearing a helmet, BUT NEVER mention wearing all the other safety gear.
'Cause there are crashes you may survive; but without wearing the other safety gear, you might wish you didn't survive.

I know during my last crash, while on the interstate, riding into the Sun, hitting that 4x4 piece of lumber that fell off a truck, and breaking my front wheel in two.
If the only protective gear I was wearing was a helmet; I would be questioning my survival.

It seems to promote "I had to lay her down to avoid the accident" mindset. Tires and brakes work best with the motorcycle upright!

The absolutely best technique is “Don’t crash in the first place”. Most crashes are a result of the rider doing something wrong or not doing something right. There are always a deer crossing into your path or a driver making an inappropriate left turn situations which can bite us.

But the best advice I’ve heard is “don’t ride any faster than you can think”. That’s why I ride so slow.

We've the "deceleration/braking starts at opening her up" proverb...
Whacking the throttle is one (easy) thing... but will I be able to handle the speed and masses later on?
Passing that car, more then sufficient thrust to launch by... but what's up ahead? A blind corner, a farm exit, dirt/gravel right in my braking zone?
Anything ahead that raises concerns, doubt, seem not 100% in your control... abort... pass that darn car a mile later...

Bike and rider must be in top notch too...
Grade A service, preventive maintenance, no bog jobs... as in aviation, make pre-flight checks... always...
Not feeling fully confident on your mount? Attend advanced rider trainings... they're priceless...

The UK authorities had a nice campaign going, THINK!
