Thanks for everyone's well wishes. I have been to Spearfish what? 12 plus times and to the Reno National air races 25 times on my motorcycles. The most scary part of the ride to Spearfish is the 50 miles of overcrowded interstate from my house to the east side of Coure D'Alene ID. Close calls can happen everywhere. Frosty and I have seen a few together over the years. But after 60 years, we have avoided any really bad days.
18 years after I started riding. A bike trip with a buddy from Illinois to Colorado. circa 1982 . 1981 Virago with factory second Vetter Windjammer. That fairing lasted though this bike and my Yamaha XV920 RH and many years on my 1983 stock Goldwing. My touring gear has been upgraded a bit over 40 plus years....a bike with shaft drive, easy to set screw adjusters and a V twin.
Imagine that.

I launched this AM. Stopped at Hankinson ND. Debating on whether to ride all the way to Spearfish tomorrow or take 2 more days. Might depend on the Dakota winds. I’m leaning toward taking a page from Chris’s playbook and take 2 days. See ya’ll.
Ready to leave tomorrow morning. Plan to arrive Spearfish Wednesday afternoon.

Ugh. Quarting headwinds 25-35 forecast.
Buffalo tonight. Hot day. 16 has some construction. Light traffic. Maybe I need Triumph?

I WAS going to take 2 more days to get to Spearfish. But after checking the weather forecast this AM I decided to just keep my butt in the saddle and open the throttle. 450 miles later I’m here.

Great weather in Spearfish for the get together! A few stuck it out til Friday, but several bailed out early under threat of sprinkles - we’re talking to you Jungle Jim!
