16th Nat'l NT Rally - Jun 17-20, 2026 - Spearfish, SD

I am VERY sorry to say I"m out. Got a "Jury Duty" letter in the mail today....I'm on call all of June.

But the last time I went in for a jury selection and when it was over they told us we had done out duty and were done. If that happens I'll pack quick and motor toward Spearfish!
I was lucky. Ever since a certain high profile murder trial of a sports legend, I completely lost faith in the jury system, but since I worked for a police agency, no one would ever pick me anyway. I was also soured on our judicial system when I was supoened to appear in court testifying for the State of WA that Radars actually worked. The only reason I was ordered to appear was that the blankety blank defense attourney hoped I wouldnt show up so he could get his scumbag client off. When I hit 65, in the state of wa, I didnt need a medical exemption letter to get out of this travesty of justice. I fully support Archy Bunker's assessment of who is actually on juries.

I have been summoned serveral times over the years for jury duty. I have yet to be selected. During the screening process as soon as they find out that you are/were a LEO, you are out. Even for civil cases the defendant's lawyer wants no part of you.

Same same....I'm way to conservative to be chosen. All I have to do is answer one question with "Hang the Bast*****" and suddenly I'm a pariah :rofl1: On the other hand that sweet compensation of $19.00 a day is hard to pass up.... LOL

I had a plan. If I was put on the stand to be questioned as a potential jury member, and a lawyer asked me if I could be impartial...I would have said, "We wouldnt have arrested the guy if he wasn't guilty!" LOL!

I’d be honored to accompany you to the museum IF we can get our schedules together. I can’t do it before Spearfish. It has been 2 years since I was there. For me that could mean arriving at Spearfish late or maybe leaving early. I figure it would add at least 5 days to my trip overall mostly in wonderful Wyoming.
Update for Junglejim, Yoda, and Redbird. Will send out via pm too. Make sure we are all on email/telephone comm too would be nice.
Frosty and I made our reservations today.
We will leave Spearfish after breakfast and camp packup on Saturday and head to Buffalo, then over the pass to Worland WY. I am staying at the travellodge. Sunday we eat and head to Dubois Wy. Its roughly a 4 hour trip. Museum opens at 9:30 am and closes at 5 pm. We are staying at the Stagecoach inn as it is right next to the cowboy cafe for breakfast. That is on Sunday night. Its not cheap and there are some cheeper alternatives in town if money is an issue. If you call them up and say you are a one eyed military retiree with AARP and AAA, you might find a room for $200 with pirate taxes.

I'm out, sorry to say.
But I'm still planning on being at Spearfish.
OK, you will be missed but that still leaves a question for Yoda and Redbird...do they need to plan on an extra night at Dubois to see the entire museum. Yoda has contacted me ref if anyone else is gonna need to stay an extra night. I dont think Frosty and I will since we have been there many times and four-five hours will be enough. I will try and text redbird and put him in contact with Yoda. IMHO, a first timer could see enough of the museum in 5 hours to not make it financially worth it to stay a whole extra day. Instead, if they wished, they could go back at 9:30 am the next day and spend another couple of hours if need be. JMTC. Its a great museum and you get two days for each pass. For me, 5 hours at one museum is alot of stymulus.

Got ahold of Redbird and he said it was fine to give Yoda his number so they can figure out sleeping arrangements....:thumb: The Museum is building its own motel.

OK, for the museum side trip, looks like we are down to Frosty, Yoda and I. Always enjoy Yoda's company....

I’m waiting for parts. Brake pads and chain bumper were supposed to be here yesterday. Today they got to my local PO. Then they shipped them to another PO 20 west of here and have not yet moved according to USPS tracking. (USPS now stands for Undependable Sometimes Postal Service). I still have to change oil and install the wayward parts, but only have 2 days to prepare for Spearfish, because I have a trip to Louisville and 3 rifle matches scheduled too.

Another recent order shipped via USPS from an adjoining state landed in 5 other states on its way. I think they do that to show that they have competitive rates PER MILE transported. IMG_0138.jpeg

A few weeks ago, I had a friend send me a check USPS registered mail signature required. I know how crappy the postal service has become. Tracking said it had arrived at the airway heights PO box so I printed out the confirmation and went to the post office. The first airhead dingbat lady who made Edith Bunker look like a rocket scientist couldnt find it. So she went to two co-workers who after 5 minutes found the letter with the $600 check.
Here is the mail that was mis delivered to our box in 2025.
