I started late in 1982. I was 32 at the time. My first bike was a 1979 left over CB650
I rode my first motorcycle in 1963. It was a Honda Cub 50. Its was the perfect motorcycle for a young beginner as it had a centrifugal clutch. The first motorcycle i owned was a 1969 Honda CB160
1958 in Key West Florida rented a little black two stroke something by the hour, I was hooked then I rode a friend's 500cc BSA some.
Then a ten year hiatus, bought my first bike in 1969 a CL175, been riding and upgrading ever since.

1961 or 62 on a Honda 305 Dream. Back then even that could keep up with traffic (and scared the snot out of me a few times). Probably made me a safer rider though.
I started riding in 1958 on a 1956 NSU Special Max 250
I started riding a trail bike (Honda MT125) in 1976-1977 and registered it to ride on the road when I got my license in 1979. Before I got my license I traded it in for a new Honda XL250S which was much more fun to ride.

very early 80ies... also a trail bike... Puch Ranger 4TL (despite the Austrian manufacturer, made in Spain)...
The Ranger 4TL was the "deluxe" model, black, 4 gears, speedo + tachometer, turnsignals...
The Ranger 4TT came slimmed, yellow, 3 gears, only one instrument, no t/signals, and (painted military green) also used by the Austrian armed forces...

Mine had studded Metzeler tires on, larger carburetor & jets, piston with short skirts, setup for torque...
And I literally rode the wheels off that thing, hopping around in some old clay-pits at the (back then) outskirts of the city...
Must have hit the deck like 10 times a day...
Fun times though and some great riding skills gained there...

Bought a new 1983 Yamaha Maxim 400. I'd never rode and didn't have a license... but those are minor obstacles. It solved my parking problem at Pearl Harbor submarine base and Hawaii was nice place to ride.
Not mine, but that's what it looked like. Pretty ugly, but I needed a ride. Any motorcycle is more fun than sitting in a car!!

1st official motorcycle was a 1973 Suzuki TM 125 dual range speed. Had it 2 yrs before I turned 16 in 1975 and got my permit to ride on the street. So started with a mini bike first, then a 60cc off road bike, a Honda ATC90 3 wheeler too, before the Suzuki. First street bike was 1979 Suzuki GS550
I fabricated my first set of powered wheels in our garage sometime in the late 50ās just after I learned to weld.
Part of a metal kitchen chair, half of a bicycle, and a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine. Tricycle. Lotsa fun. Some road rash. But, I avoided any broken bones. LOL Sure wish I had some pictures.
My first REAL set of wheels was a Honda P50? moped I rode on base in Korat Thailand in 1968. Hardly ever sober.
