Well, he's gone, gone, gone...

Glad to hear Phil is doing OK.
The biggest problem I see with us old folks is that when we loose our loved ones and live in empty houses, we miss human companionship....we have to learn to get out and do something with people. After 30 years doing police comminications, I relished being alone. Now, Frosty and I went down to an eatery south of here and lo and behold, a 6 ft 13 inch aging Nordic god on a Bavarian tractor from Texas with "Air Medal" on his license plate pulled up to see why we were looking at my rear tire. (People are always looking at my tires). His name was Sean an he is a retired USAF Bird Col. who owns a Beachcraft Bananza and flys big airplanes aroound the world for a contractor...super nice guy. I meet lots of nice people traveling around. That is important when you live alone.

The "Service" managers at all dealerships are BS artists.

My Red Green engineering department is working on a motorcycle lift now. 😧
I actually have the destrinction of meeting a real service manager at a private Honda car dealership. When I would get my car serviced, I would to into his office and we would talk. He said my Honda 2004 CRV is bulletproof as long as the air conditioning compresser didnt handgrenade and he was right. Still going strong. But there are lots of salesmen and service managers who arent worth a nickel.

Thanks.

I was on 2 forums discussing the BMW Connected app and struggling with that. I called ā€œtime outā€ I’m going for a rideā€ and I’ll deal with the connectivity later. Bottom line is that BMW Navigation is a PITA. I mounted my Zumo on the 2nd day I had it.

I’ve never named any of my motorcycles but you may have done it for me when you said that my purchase of RT was ā€œFake Newsā€. That stuck.

I got the stuff for my oil change. YouTube University says there are 2 drain plugs and a cartridge filter. The horizontal cartridge filter is under a body panel and spews down the side of the motor upon removal. The filler cap is under a different body panel. Small funnel and pour slowly. Boxflyer on BMW Sport Touring is making a video on this.

The BMW service department told me that even with an OBD device I couldn’t reset the service reminder. Same as Triumph. But there’s a difference between ā€œI can’t do itā€ and ā€œImpossibleā€.

File size of my pictures ranges from about 4MB to 9MB. And most are 24MP. I think I can set the camera to reduce that if I just take the time to figure that out.
Triump requires you rent an app and buy a blue tooth to OBD pigtail. This is Bravo Sierra and its one reason keeping me from buying a bike from a dealer network spread out 300 miles dealer to dealer.

Thanks.

I will say this again. I am a computer idiot. But there is a free app (I buy the no ad version) called "Photo and Picture resizer" I use it every day. It is so simple and intuitive.
You take a pic with your phone. You go to the app, it says pick image, you select it, hit open, hit crop and crop the pic, hit resize and I usually select something near 800x800, then hit home. Now the pic lives in the photo resizer folder. So you open up email or NT or ? and select add pic and its right THERE.

Thanks.

This service reminder bravo sierra is just marketing bravo sierra. On my 2004 CRV. I just push a button while holding my tounge right. It sickens me. Its like a service manager telling a non technical person their Piper Tripacer needs tail wheel grease and they have to vaccum the fratascran valve.

I actually like it, even though I always keep spreadsheets on when I need to do things, it's good to have the reminder in my opinion. I do wish it was easier to reset, like most vehicles..
For me, I keep documents on all services on my Six main vehicles...so I can quickly look at see when I last put on a rear tire on the XT, for instance.
Now, if there was a screen that said all the maintenances that were done by the dealer or you and what milage and when and where, that would be one thing.
If there is a bike with just an idiot light that said services needed, well, I have a big issue with that. Especially if I can not reset it with existing buttons.
If a warrenty is involved, they have a right to know when what service is done when and by whom.
I do appreciate that 50 percent of the public has never checked nor do they know how to check their spare tire pressure. And I do appreciate a company has a right to know if routine maintenance is done if they are carrying a warrenty. But ridiculas maintenance...like new $100 worth of plugs every 7,500 miles is a scam. Or valve checks at 12,000 mi for $1800..
Once a vehicle is out of warrenty, I should be able to do what I want. John Deere lost a big lawsuit cause it wouldnt let its customeers service its tractors.
Things have changed since 2004 when my CRV had a plug change and screw valve adjuster check at 96,000 mi. And that engine is turning at 2900 rpm at 60 mph due to some engineer thinking it was a good idea for a stick shift car with a crusie control on hills.
