With reports of strong weather conditions I just wanted to do a buddy check. So to you folks in and near the tornados how are you doing? Just wishing the best for you folks in the storm paths.

Weather this Spring is certainly crazier than usual.
Hope everyone here is alright and no one has storm damage.

The severe storms went around us by a few miles, so we dodged the bullet. The folks just a few miles north and south of us weren't so lucky. Four died in metro St. Louis. Sat and Sun look quiet for us and Sun night the super cells reform.

Mike, I knew you were close but didn't know how close. Glad you're OK. But it sounds like the wild weather will persist for a couple more days.

This time the storms hit some highly populated areas resulting in considerable damage and loss of life. Most of the time, thankfully, the storms hit rural areas and destroy nothing but a bunch of trees. For some reason though, the storms have an affinity for mobile home parks the vast majority of which are not anchored down.

I too have been watching the news and the prevelance of severe storms...good luck everyone. On the news today they posted a video that blows everything you think you know about lightning out of the water. Here is a cruiser in a parking lot of a police station. The camera is on a building that is taller than the cruiser. Behind the cruiser are tall pine trees. Yet the lightning went for the crusier! Lightning gonna do what lightning gonna do.

I saw that as well. Faraday cage notwithstanding, it would have been a bad day for whoever had anyone been occupying that vehicle.

I think so too....And yet, there are very few stories about occupants dieing in stuck cars or even motorcyclists on overpasses being struck. Pleanty of stories about many elk being killed at the base of a tree.
