The 2019 NT Gathering - May 16-19, 2019 - Cairo, WV

As of this morning (Feb 23), we have 13 confirmed and another 3 as possibles. 🆒

Barry - I'm sure it can be worked into the schedule. Duane will be the one to make that decision as it's way above my pay grade. For $12.95 per person, he can make it happen! :)

All kidding aside, it might make more sense to add a covered bridge or two to each ride, as a rest point rather than try and do all 8 in the same day. If we did that, I'd be "bridged-out" by early afternoon.

ps. didn't we stop at one covered bridge last year?

And if anyone wants to lead a "Covered Bridge Ride" on one of the days, please be my guest. This is an event that gives everyone a chance to lead. :)
 
I think we stopped at two. At one, I had someone turn my bike around for me; at the other one we stopped on the side of the road (which, IIRC) only "stubbed" out to the covered bridge.

I"m still going to try to make it, but it isn't looking good. It is a 400-mile ride to the Mackinaw bridge before I turn south toward warmer weather. I want the forecasted low to be above 40 degrees and the forecasted high to me above 60 degrees before I'd leave. Those numbers are exactly what seasonal averages are here. I don't mind riding in the 30's or even 20's as long as I know it will be warming up. But an all-day ride in cold wet weather isn't any fun.

It will be a last minute decision based on the forecast at the time. I could haul my bike to southern MI. That would mean almost half my riding for the trip would be in my truck - no thanks.
 
I thought "Northern Wisconsin" was a Canadian Province. :whistle:

I grew up 200 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge (Saginaw). Lived there for 23 years. Crossed the bridge 3 times...in 23 years. Even southern Michigan residents consider the Upper Peninsula to be another country. It's farther north than Green Bay. And we all know how crazy those Wisconsin people are going to open stadium football games in sub-zero weather. With wedgy cheese hats on their heads.

Possible yes but damned annoying putting up with all that white stuff. The walleye and northern fishing does redeem it somewhat, but the riding season is too short.

Duane (WVrider) and I have decided to split the riding group into a Group A (fast) and Group B (slow). He'll lead the fast group and I'll lead the slow group. We'll still end-up at the same rest & lunch stops but doing this will make the group more manageable. And he has developed two routes - one for Friday and one for Saturday - and both are of reasonable distance & time. :)
