Oshkosh flyin is coming. I checked out my mighty Schwinn scooter today for its 13th ride to Oshkosh.
The handle collapses
The Ill Eagle seat and post just pull out with the loosening of one bolt. Had to buy them separately. Federal law at the time.
Uses 2 mighty lead acid 12 V batteries, (12 v each, in tandem) $20 Combined, 10 ah.
Can go up to 12 mph
can go for 7 miles on a charge. It is one mile to the flight line and one mile back. Asphalt.
10 mph speed limit, IIRC
Free scooter stickers are no longer required.
I had a cheep gas scooter. The 50 cc engine was wonderful. Went like stink. The rest of the bike was a POS....gave it away.
On the flightline, I just plug it into a shower house external outlet if it needs charge.
Every trip to the flightline is an adventure. the road is full of people, bicycles, quads, motorcycles, impotant people in cars, and buses.
I rode e bikes before ebikes were cool.

I camp out with some interesting people. The guy on the left , Mother Hen Joe, the guy on the bike, Steve Psycho money bags, and the guy in the grey T shirt work for an accident reconstruction engineering firm. The guy on the bike, Steve, was tasked with buying the perfect copy of the plane John Denver crashed, put all the fuel valves in the position they were in behind the head, and would have testified at the lawsuit trial, but IIrC it was settled out of court. I cant remember if they were hired by the defense or plantive. The guy in the blue ball cap in front of me is Jeff. He had the distinction of being United Airlines Capt seniority number 1 before he retired with the highest number of hours of any capt. His dad was a united capt and gave Jeff his United pistol which he had to carry, perhaps flying the mail. The guy in the green shirt on the right was a USAF T38 instructor if I remember correctly and then a right seater for United. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met and his stupid wife found a lover and divorced him. Poor kids. He and Jeff have some good flying stories. Jeff is a pilot's pilot. He lives on a grass airport and has an aerobatic biplane. The grey T shirt guy, Matt, aka "Bucket boy", is now flying B25s for the CAF. This shot is from 2008.
Steve and Joe are best friends.
