I'm no camper either but pretty sure the tire compressor would not work very well if at all. The volume is too small. Tires need pressure and air mattresses lots of volume.
Maybe a test is in order.

Nah, just get a bigger motorcycle.....or a van. Piece of cake. Plenty of room for everything!
I don't know why you guys are complaining about air compressors for air mattresses. With all the hot air, I don't think anyone here is lacking the ability to fill an air mattress. 
Seriously, though, there are some newer air mattresses these days that don't take as long to fill up, yet are 2.5" or so thick.

I went to REI and they have a table set up that you can pick out a pre-inflated airmattress and try it.
The Insulated Nemo Cosmo 30 inch wide XL is the bomb. Wide enough and long enough and none of your body parts bottoms out. 3 in deep.
Not cheep and worth every penny.

I an NOT a camper but stayed at a Holiday Inn last night! All kidding aside, I wonder if the small 12v air compressor I always carry for roadside repair would blow up an air mattress without much grief?
That compressor can blow up the rear tire from 0 to 45 psi in about 20-30 min and saved my bacon more than once.
That is a good question. All that is needed is an adaptor. I tend to not want to wear out my electric tire pump. I am surprised yours took 20 minutes to inflate a rear to 45 psi, but then again when I was doing my tests I started at about 10 psi.
You do have me thinking though. I have a quality high volume bicycle hand pump that is small and weighs next to nothin and works great. I might just work on an adaptor for IT.

After reading this thread yesterday I looked at the Nemo Cosmo mattress here in Oz and it is AU$300 +-or US$223. That is a little bit too much for me.
