New NT1100 to be announced on Oct 21

I suspect that when and if this pandemic ever ends, the used market will be flooded with RVs, travel trailers, motorcycles, ATVs, etc...and it will be a buyer's market.

In the RV world most of them will have been bought at outrageously high over MSRP prices, over financed at high rates and long terms, and will have QC issues galore. The owners are so upside down they will be lucky to get fifty to sixty percent of what they owe. The whining has already begun on the RV forums... 🙄

Back on topic I'd take the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT over a restyled African Twin any day...;)

I’ll will probably keep what I got at this moment. These bikes fit all my needs.

It only took me 7 years to get myself that NT I lusted over back in 2010. It will probably take me that long or so to pick up a used NT1100. By that time I’ll be 55 years old and possibly the Electric Bike will be better perfected. I’ll probably go back to electric by then.

Some folks are drawn toward the shiniest and newest of (fill in the blank ) and this looks like it will fill that bill nicely. Conversely, some of us are drawn toward the economics of finding a good, pre-tested, ride. For me, my NT looks shiny and new AND it was a financial steal. After I’ve logged 50k miles or so, I may want more bike beneath me but I doubt it.

All of that said, it’s a Honda, it’s beautiful, and will most likely be well represented in the used market if/when I want an upgrade.

As far as I can see in the pictures, the Suzuki may not have a Centre Stand. The chain I could live with if I had to, but not without a CS.

Suzuki typically have a centre stand as an optional extra for around $300, Ouch.

I dunno....a center stand would be a requirement for me as well if it is chain drive. Some of the new bikes with the exhaust system under the engine make a center stand nigh impossible.

The modern parallel twins are nothing like the bikes from the 60s-70s. Liquid cooling allows them to be much narrower than the air-cooled bikes of yore plus they usually have a balancer of some kind, fuel injection, etc.

Except for a few brands, the V-twin might be going the way of the dinosaur?

A center stand should be as standard on a motorcycle as handlebars. Without a center stand some maintenance is nearly impossible by the owner.

My 650 Versys does not have a center stand. It is a bit inconvenient.

Might I add that many of these modern parallel twins have a 270° crankshaft offset. This differs from the 360° and 180° crankshaft configurations of yesteryears.

Our NC700Xs have the 270° crankshaft configuration.

I found this great in depth explanation video.

If it is yet another parallel twin with chain drive, I don't really see the point. Been there, done that. But I'm not in Honda marketing.

It is...

This is looking as a possible replacement for my FJR1300. Chain is not an issue for me but the 110 lbs or so less weight make it quite attractive . I need to go test ride an African Twin just to feel how the motor behaves and feels. It might bring me back into the Honda fold.

Chain drive doesn’t bother me as I have 2 chain driven bikes in my stable.

For me it will be the price. I can see this bike being at or above the $19k price mark.

I need to get a new AC system for the house, which will cost in that price range. So, there goes any new bike for the next 6 years or so.

Roughly $18k, 523 pounds, and 32.2" seat height. I'm sticking with my NT700V. ;)

Per the UK website ‘Visor Down’, 248 kg / 546 lb for the DCT model which is perfect for touring duty. 100 hp, 6 speed, here’s your bike CHUCKLRST!
