My last hope. Anyone have a Fram Sure Drain SD-2 ? Or know where to find ?

I'm buying another vehicle for my stable; a 2013 manual transmission Mazda5.
Supposedly, according to internet searches; it has the same oil drain plug size as my 2010 NT.
So I would like to put the same quick drain on this Mazda as is on my Jeep and NT.
And that quick drain is a Fram Sure Drain SD-2.

Since Fram discontinued these Sure Drains over two decades ago, they appear to have become a unicorn.
For my '08 Ranger and my 2010 NT; I was able to find these Fram Sure Drain SD-2, as old stock, on places like Ebay and Amazon.
BUT now I can not find them anywhere.

Anyone have one they'd like to sell or know where I may find one ?

I can't help you on the Fram product, but I have Fumoto valves on many of my vehicles. They are available on their website. I suspect that they are a tad pricier than the Fram product but they are machined from a solid brass casting that will likely outlive any vehicle you install it on.

I've considered Fumoto valves; but I'm not a fan of the lever and not having a safety cap.
So I prefer the quick drain type that has a screw on safety cap and uses a screw on drain.
If I can't find a Fram SureDrain; I'll probably go with a No-Spill quick drain.
But it would be nice to only need one screw on drain for all my vehicles that have a quick drain.

I am with you. I can certainly see the convienence of these if you change your oil more than twice a year. I am an old fuddy duddy who likes a new crush washer, a torque wrench, and a magnet in the drain plug.

I installed a Fumoto valve on my 2008 Sprinter diesel not long after I got it. Much easier to drain the used oil into several containers.
I installed a german cap type on a bmw motorcycle. Tube controls the old oil.

OP here,

And really wanted to get a Used Oil Analysis of the oil that came in the vehicle.
I was curious as to if previous owner used USA/CAFE recommend oil of 0w20 or rest of world recommended oil of 5w30.

SO I did an oil change with the intent on continuing to use it's drain plug for this one change and buy a No-Spill before next oil change.
The drain plug was more beat up than I liked. So I went to local auto parts store to buy a new drain plug and washer.
And they didn't have any drain plugs. :eek:
But they did have a Fumoto valve; with short nipple; and required adapter. So I bought and used those.

BUT no matter how I tried lining up the threads; the release lever wound up at the 3 O'clock position. (Drain hole is horizontal and coming of back of oil pan.)
Meaning when opening the valve; the lever is right in the middle of the oil stream.
Combine that with me not liking how far valve sticks out from pan with the adapter, and that Fumoto does not have any safety cap; I've since ordered a No-Spill valve.
Fingers crossed that it will fit with no issues. 🤞

Out of curiosity, how often do you change your oil? Time and miles?
 
I'm an every 3k mile guy. ;)
And this vehicle is going to be dedicated for ridesharing.
So I can easily see oil changes at least once per month.
OK, that makes sense. Just make sure the probability of damage to the mechanism due to road debris is low.
