GF and NT700VA in rehab...

Well... ze GF is back on wheels

Despite some odd weather this morning (we actually had some snowflakes swirling in the gusty winds...) she insisted on us driving to the shed...
I rode the NT over the unpaved access on the public tarmac, and she took it for a spin around the block...
then another one...
and a third time... 🤔

And then she suggested that she'll ride it into the garage at my place...

The plate they'd bolted on her left radius is still causing some discomfort and issues handling the clutch...
I'm going to swivel the clamps/armatures a bit plus get a set of adjustable levers which might help...

Adjustable brake and clutch levers have arrived, and they look very solid and well designed...

aside this is ze GF already planning routes and ferry schedules for the August trip, so she seems highly motivated

Installed mentioned levers last night, fit perfectly, hence done in about 10 minutes...

Compared to the OEM ones do they miss the brass bushing for the pivot/bolt...
Understandable as aluminum and brass don't do well when exposed to the elements, which is why the Honda parts have a separating, SS-sleeve inserted...

And yesterday she took the NT for a shakedown/training round...

All fine, holding the clutch level depressed does cause some discomfort in her left wrist though...
A clutch tamer is on its way though, I just hope that we don't loose too much pull with that, so it won't disengage properly...

I would suspect that she lost some strength in her left wrist from lack of activity over the past few months and resuming riding and use of the clutch will restore her strength in short order.

It seems the implanted stiffening SS plate on her left radius causes some issues...
She's already training and exercising since getting out of the hospital into re-mobilization; rubber, squeeze rings to train finger muscles, etc...
Currently she hits the gym like 2~3 times a week, leg and arm muscles...

Sounds like she is on the right track. Just keep going toward the goal and will have fun riding again soon.

The clutch tamer has arrived and appears well made (CBC-ed aluminum housing...)

ze GF has decided to delay the installation till after the MOT (annual tech inspection), as they might object on items "they don't know"... ;)
In France and a number of other European countries there are real objections to the MOT / ContrĂ´le Technique (CT) on Motos due to it being proven to be completely and totally unnecessary by both government and insurance industry statistics. More info here (in French) FFMC CT.

Is there a similar movement in Austria?

Frankly, as people grew more and more ignorant and proof to be technical illiterates to begin with, ignore regular service intervals, ignore factory recalls (both cause they're "inconvenient"...), neglect their vehicles, treating them more like appliances (beside occasional 'charging' just use and wear them down...), I do not really object on an annual mandatory tech & safety check... within reason...

What I do object, is that notorious EC totalitarianism...
Like legalizing that LED headlight crap, but object on running lights I've on my ST1100 since 1993?! 🤨
Or forcibly networking all vehicles via that mandatory eCall...

And again those lobbyist in Brussels come with even more stupid ideas...

Favoring the industry they now want to stretch the intervals:

A 4-2-2-2-1 regulation, i.e. first review after 4 years, then after 2 years, again 2, 2 and then finally annually.
(great, folks will use their vehicles 4 years without any checks then... havoc on the streets...)

eCall review: The automatic emergency call system has to be integrated into the §57a assessment.

Digitization & Transparency: A new QR code on the report makes it easy to check the data and details.
(all test reports are already logged online into a state's database...)

Defect assessment: If there are serious defects, the vehicle may only be used for another two months.

Yep, they heavily try to force "old" vehicles off the roads by expropriating the people...

In several US states, there are no mandatory safety inspections. There is no substance to the idea that people will let their vehicles go to pot and keep driving them. The problem with unsafe vehicle in the US is those here illegally who do not understand our traffic regulations and do not drive safely.

Here is Missouri, they are finally doing away with the mandatory vehicle safety and emissions inspection. They have found that these inspections did little or nothing to improve highway safety or emissions.

Big cities/counties in Texas still have emissions testing. One of the many reasons I insisted we live outside the city that is host to San Antonio when we moved here.

Totally ignoring Asian chicks and emission tests, does ze GF intend to do another shakedown/test-ride tonight...

She's going to the gym like 2~3 times a week, focus on legs, arms and forearm/finger strength... 🏋️‍♀️

My DIVA was a restoration too. That was 4 years ago or so. I still have her.
also ze GF never showed any intentions about getting rid of her NT at all...
She's happy that the damage was repairable, and is even considering picking up commuting again soon...

She has planned a ride for next w/e, 2 hours each leg to get back into it...
The trusty ST1100Y as heavy escort...
(I will have to remind/push her to install the SENA into her new Schuberth C3 pro this week... ;))
