Any chance you will make it to Spearfish this year, Wendell? Any mode of transport is fine. Fly and drive? We would all enjoy your company again.

There is a very nice campground/motel just SE of Dubois. They want $50 a night for a tent. I booked all my Hotels early now with the crush of "revenge vacationing" Some, like Challis ID and Buffalo WY, still have reasonalble priced rooms. Many near Bozeman are scalping. I agree that travel aint what it used to be. I remember the days that reservations at a camp ground or motel were not needed.Wow, I had no clue that reservations were so scarce. I just reserved the last tent site in Dubois WY for the 15th & 16th. So, (uncharacteristically for me) I now have a schedule. That sort of takes the fun out of my traveling.
I agree with Wendell, sadly, but I agree. I am now 75. I have been retired 20 year and one day. Over those years, I took up to 9 trips a year....now, I dont do many shooting matches...the Reno Air races are history....lots of things are not as fun as they were over those 20 years.....and I am spending more time with my wife at dog shows as I know all to well from this forum and life that no relationship is for ever. Like Wendell, I do enjoy travel, only I like cruise ships. (Thailand would be cool, though...And Indonesian Temples) I still love motorcycle touring and look forward to getting away from the endless land work and going to Spearfish. Then maybe a nice trip to Cody Wyoming in August except I fear it will be smoked up. If it is, I go to the WA coast. Motorcycling is still fun but the other people on the roads arent. Agressive driving and cell fone use are terrible. Ticket writing has fallen by half and accidents have doubled where I live. We have one trooper who has just written his 4,000 DUI ticket and the courts just plea bargin them down....two lane highways are still fun.......Junglejim and Yoda, You both unfortunately hit the nail on the head for us older riders (I'm speaking about me)! I just ain't what I used to be, and it's only getting worse. Not that I don't enjoy life, but some hobbies are not as fun for me as they used to be. Traveling 100 miles on my motorcycle, NOT fun. Traveling half way around the world by plane, still fun. So Phil, I'm with you - but those decisions are not easy nor fun to make. Ten years ago, I took on the challenge of the IBA 100CCC and did it in 96.5 hours and loved it - but those days are behind me. But this year, I spend three weeks in Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines and Qatar and I had the time of my life. Its hard to give up my dream rides of Key West to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, or riding Hwy 12 through Utah but as Chuck suggested, I can always do those rides by my camper van - so life goes on and the great memories live on..........like Phil drinking some fire water in Spearfish!!!!! I just had my cataracts removed and I was amazed at the difference. The world is so much brighter and colorful and I don't need glasses to drive anymore.Spearfish is a no go for me this year. I thought that I had a plan for riding 6 days straight and then catching a plane out of town. Then one more thing got thrown on the pile so I am out.
I shall plan to see you next (with cataract free lenses I hope).
You must be thinking of that other guy...We will miss your humor and wit, Frosty.
You mean Chris has been holding back this whole time? oh no!Plus, you always keep Coyote Chris in line. LOL
Absolutely, and apparently he'll see us first....Hope to see you next year!
Ride safe Jim!On my way to Dubois WY. See you folks at Spearfish. View attachment 21863
We may have to finally set him free and see what happens. With Frosty unavailable, who will keep Chris out of trouble?![]()
