How does one ride an NT?

Well come on out here and you can ride mine.
My first tour was in Colorado! My uncle owned a liquor store and bike rental place in Estes part 1950s-1970s. I rented a 80 cc beater from him and rode over trail ridge road and camped in Arapaho national forest. 1967

FYI the Facebook page, "Honda NT1100 owners group" says color panels, lock sets, etc are getting really hard to find in the US. Really Honda? I dont have an issue if you cant guess how many $200 color pannels you will sell and just sell the panniers so people can tour....but Lock sets??????
Also, the true vehicle weight is allusive. Perhaps 575 lbs with panniers but no center stand? DCT is 24 lb.

IMHO Road testers in the rags and on the web need to start holding manufactures feet to the fire and weighing the bikes and stateing the weight of the options.
Chris who is sick of buying overpriced center stands and putting them on.

2026 Triump Desert Edition, with center stand, skid plate, tank bars, crash bars and panniers (dont know weight of pannier mounts) is 534 lbs.

This is kind of interesting. Who remembers that small but sturdy roll bar that came stock on the NT700. ? It worked for me.
I would suggest putting something on the NT1100. This is fixable but not fun to fix. When the pickup driver knocked my FJR over in a parking lot...in a corner space no less....I was sure glad I had rear roll bars and front canyon cages with siders. IIRC one of our members had a bike knocked over in a motel parking lot.

NT1100 comes with centerstand.

The dealer I bought my NX500 from is in Durant, Oklahoma. Jones Powersports.

I just checked, they show a 2026 NT1100 in grey, in stock. THEY DONT CHARGE FOR ASSEMBLY, OR SHIPPING. The price is the price out the door.

You could fly to Oklahoma City or Dallas and ride it home. Probably save a LOT of money compared to some other dealers.

If you need a place to stay overnight on the way home, I have a guest bedroom. Breakfast included. No charge for good friends.

Thanks, Buddy! Great riding with you. Text us on your situation.

I think its interesting how one of MY dealers lies his head off an says shipping is $800 (website says $600) and "Dealer prep" is $600 and there is a pirate tax of $200 to do the documentation,a and many states are much higher. It is clear that there are hungrier dealers out there. Cleveland Triump advertises free shipping to your door anywhere in the country.
The cost of shipping an assembled bike is pretty cheep if you are not in a hurry. I think Honda does charge the dealer to ship them the bike but I dont know that for sure. At any rate, the dealer can eat it to move bikes. If its like cars, the more bikes you sell, the better off you are with the distributor.
With my neuropathy and back and balance issues, I am in no hurry. Wanna see how hungry the dealers get. Looking at the US facebook page for Honda Nt1100 and the World wide FB page for Honda NT1100, it is clear they sold a bunch of these bikes. Right now, with my disabilites, my XT 650 and VFR are nice and light and easy to handle. 575lbs is stretching it. My XT is 470 plus tank bars and cases. With the 19 in front wheel and big handle bars and seating position, it handles like a dream. My VFR is 527 plus bags, but for some reason (low seat height?) it feels light and paddling is no issue. The 700 plus pound FJR needs to go. Frosty is right about one thing. Paddling it around is much easier with motorcycle boots on than sneekers. But you still have to be on your toes.

BTW, for our newer members, you can often buy a bike in another state and avoid $2,000 document fees.
Florida regularly leads the country in car dealer documentation (doc) fees, with state averages soaring around $999 to $1,147 and single dealerships frequently charging over $1,800 to $2,000. Other states with notoriously high average doc fees include Virginia (averages around $799) and Colorado. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Florida, Virginia, and many other states have no legal caps on how much a dealership can charge for processing vehicle paperwork, allowing dealers to turn this into massive profit centers. [1, 2, 3]
For context, the variance across the U.S. is massive, as shown in the 2026 Dealer Doc Fee by State Guide: [1, 2, 3]

My mistake. I have a false memory of a person on this forum saying it did not.
Sorry could not tell by brochure. Maybe an earlier model year? Google said:

"The NT1100 was built primarily for European riders during its first three years, but was eventually brought to the North American market for the 2025 model year with updated styling, luggage, and a new electronic suspension model"
The 2022 Euro D model looks like it has a center stand. Not sure about the A model 2022 with the standard tranny.

Google is a liar. Never Trust Google :rofl1:

Sorry. I have just developed an anti center stand bias, after taking the last two days to put the center stand back on the BMW F800GT. Finally with the help of wood shims. two large screw drivers, a plastic mallet and a floor jack, I was able to mount it with the two concentric springs. That's right the Bavarians could not make a spring nasty enough, so they used two!
"Ja, zat will teach the dummkopf to work on the motorrad without the special BMW tools."
All the while rolling around the garage floor.

Jim, it should have self canceling turn signals... actually called comfort turn signals in the menu system... you can even program it ... a quick push left or right is for changing lanes and long press left or right will keep it on at a light.
Ya Joe, I read about that. Mine are supposed to cancel after the lean sensor senses the correct lean and recovery. No mention of lane change signaling. They do (sort of) work IF you lean a lot. Won’t work on a curve or from a stop and turn.

I gave it a test ride last night after dark to see how the lighting was and to test my ability to find the correct buttons without actually looking for them. I was disappointed in the lights UNTIL I figured out how to work them. They are fine. I do need more familiarization with the bike though. I ordered a tank bag from Wunderlich - cost more but I liked the bags better than Givi or SW Motech.

I gave up on the BMW nagavation (I intended to spell it that way). I'm using my Zoom. And I found the BMW MOA and the BMW Sport Touring forums. Good informatrion on there. I saw some member with the username of "Mellow". I may be heading down to an ATR in Prairie du Chein next weekend. Same neighborhood as that STOC in Lanesboro, but on the WI Side of the river.

The NT1100 has self cancel turn signals that you can go into the menus and turn them of to be manual turn signals. Only grip I have is they do not stay on long enough before the turn. I like to turn them on well before I make my turn, I suppose I could revert them beck to manual mode but I do like the fact I cannot forget to turn the signal off after the turn.
