10 Red NT 14 FJR, 17 XT
I usually dont have this problem, but I am trying to make up my mind which bike to take to Spearfish.
I usually take the NT but I could also take the FJR. The FJR goes to the Reno Air Races and the XT650 goes some place in late Sept and also to Wyoming in August. Any of the bikes can do the 4 day "One lap of WA" trip.
I am leaning toward the NT as it usually doesnt get sleepy and try and take a nap in gas stations and parking lots and camp grounds like the FJR tries to. So far, I have kept the FJR upright....err...I mean awake. And it has canyon cages, roll bars and sliders just in case.
The NT has more power than the entire starting lineup of the Kentucky Derby. True, it let me down that one time when it's crank angle position sensor became intermittant...but the new one I put in has lasted a year and a half.
The FJR has more power, an electric windscreen, more power, a cruise control, more power, heated grips, more power, better wind protection, and case latches that you can trust. Other than that, its pretty much just like the NT. Except it gets sleepy.
Which should I take?

red vs red...…...now only if you had another color, would be much easier

Yellow is a good color..I gots one of those, actually...never takes naps and is smooth as silk....
Like yellow, for instance?14240

Chris, please elaborate on the FJR taking naps.
Is it that Top Heavy or Unbalanced?
I have ridden an FJR several times and agree with you that they feel not too different to the NT. Just a bit heavier with just a TAD more power.
An FJR is still on my "possible" list, as is a Burger 650 (which I have also ridden several times).
I know they are completely different animals but I like both a lot.
If I was able, I would have one of each to park either side of the NT.

Lessee.... ride an NT to an NT/ST owners rally, fit in with the group, and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow NT owners..... or, ride your brand X FJR (which ain't an NT or ST, btw) and be subject to the castigation and everlasting enmity of the group? Sounds like a no-brainer to me. If you do decide to ride the FJR however, you might be able to mollify the group by offering to buy breakfast or something.... I'm just sayin'.....

Well, except for Phil and me, there is gonna be lots of castration going on as there are not many of us that ride NTs anymore to the rally! But I like your idea of junglejim buying us all breakfast.(y)

Chris, I can add a poll to the site for the Free Breakfast so you know how many are showing up.. already added it on ST-Owners and it's going to be a huge success, thanks!... But, I might as well add a poll here to so you have a better combined count.
