I installed a new windshield but it doesn't want to adjust. Any recommendations on lubrication or such?
You've got dirty balls!!!!!!!! Actually, the ball bearings in the windshield guide channel plus the channel itself accumulate grundge (technical term) over time and cause the mechanism to get stiff and bind. Take some Super Clean, Purple Power or Simple Green and squirt liberally into the guide channels and let it sit for a few minutes. Then rinse out the guide channels with a garden hose with a jet nozzle. If you have a compressor, then blow the moisture out of the channel, let dry and then spray silicone lube liberally in the channels and voila! you are good to go. Don't be tempted to use a harsh solvent like brake clean in lieu of the Super Clean, etc. as the solvent doesn't play well with the innards of the channel mechanism.I installed a new windshield but it doesn't want to adjust. check my thread on cleaning and Re-lubing the windscreen channels, it may help ...I installed a new windshield but it doesn't want to adjust. Any recommendations on lubrication or such?
Keep them both I did for four years. Then I sold them both (2003 ST, 2010 NT) for my 2014 FJR 10 years ago. Still got the FJR All three bikes bought new. Thanks all for the advice. I ordered and received an OEM windshield from Motosports.com and it fits perfectly. I don't much go in for aftermarket products due to the serious work put in by Honda on general ergonomics on the machines. Besides, I like the look of the ride as it was designed. I did follow the advice on getting the windshield to adjust, used Simple Green and silicone lube to get it moving. It works just fine now.
I'm waiting on a rear tire. Once the weather breaks I will have the bike plated and ready to go. I think I'm going to be pleased with it. I don't think I'm in any hurry to sell the ST1300, however. I have developed a great affection for that one., owned it since 2013. I hope I have a few knee drags left in me.
