What better way to celebrate one’s 90th Birthday than an outing with motorcycle friends.
(See photo if I can attach).
The following day I rode 400+klms to Sydney In very wet and windy conditions to attend a family gathering given in honour of my 90 years around the sun. Which included my three children, nine grand children and two great grandchildren. Alas the love of my life of 67 years was not present, having lost her two years ago after her experiencing that dreadful Alzheimers disease. However she was with us in spirit.
I am often asked ‘Why are you so fit at 90 years’ My reply ‘ I don’t drink alcohol, have never smoked, walk several klms. everyday - attend the Men’s Shed regularly, ride my Deauville almost daily, and ride fortnightly with our motorcycling group. Have a sizeable front and back gardens to maintain. As I live alone have the usual domestic chores. No home help is needed- ‘long may that be the case’.
Of course it is important to choose good parents ‘like I did’!
Mum lived to 97 years, my aunt on Dad’s side lived to 103 ! She lived in the closest tenement building to Edinburgh Castle and was climbing four stories to her flat daily until 101 years old.:
I used to joke with my late wife that I will be on my Third Wife when I depart .
My Deauville still runs ‘like as new’ . My wish is that it remains so and that I can swing my leg over its saddle on my 100th.

It is so odd how people age differently....they pick the right or wrong parents. I am 75. Try to take good care of myself by eating fresh fruit like 100 percent blue agave tequila, etc. I camp out 30 days a year, just got my first automatic tranny in 2018 but own two other sticks, love being outdoors. And due to a mistake in the way I was using my BP monitor, I dont have to take drugs or give up Viagra. There are medical issues but so far they can be managed.....I look at other 75 year old people and they look, well, not as good.... Its not the years, its the miles I guess.
Pick your parents wisely. And hang out with younger people like Tanny, Angel and Dee. 90 is a number. Its all about how you feel and how much fun you are having.
