Well well well

So if we (people) don't make it do the dinosaurs come back? Dino's don't need no stinking AI data centers.

I am a bit concerned about where we will be in near future. We may have gotten a bit too far off the main road. Most of these changes aren't bad by themselves, and many are useful and good, but the common stuff and common sense looks a bit iffy.

Iowa receives over 63% of our electricity from wind.
Checking the sources of energy for MISO today wind was 18%, and solar was 8%. That is very good, but a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg ways from 60%. June 16, 2026 was the highest wind and solar generation day in June... 29% of all generation.

Solar is minimal in winter months and if the wind don't blow... you're going to need some base load generation or do without. 1/3/2026 5% of MISO electrical energy came from wind and solar.

That those fellas take over seems more likely... ;)

And over here protesters scream rant and murder against any further hydroelectric power plants...
(top already under construction, bottom future project... both 400MW capacity...)

I am a bit more concerned but at my age and no biological kids, my days of carrying a sign are gone. Go ahead and use half the US corn crop, with all its fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide, etc to make a fuel that is 70 percent efficient, and see what happens. Cut down the rain forests of the world to grow sugar cane to make ethanol, and palm oil. Your planet. I will soon be gone.

How sad. The "Save the snail darter" crew here want to blow the dams. The political power in power in WA doesnt consider hydro electric "green". And a certain percentage of all new power must be so called "Green" power. The local power company got caught planning new natural gas pipelines for its data center....so much for getting THAT permit through state regulators.
Unless there is a commitment to modular "stackable" sodium cooled Nuclear power plants, Hydro works.
