I have had a troy bilt CS4325 chipper for 10 years. It saw hard use. But it works great. It started leaking oil 4 years ago but I just kept adding oil every 20-30 minutes for 2 years.
Then fall 2023 it started cutting out and wouldnt run for awhile...Looked like a spark issue to me so I went out and just wanted a new one but of course they dont make them anymore so I bought a DR POS that has only one blade....and it dulls fast. grrrrrrr.

So I am trying to get the old troy bilt running again. No good spark today so I took off the cover over the throttle and checked the kill circuit. No issues so I lightly reassembled it and voila! It ran. I want to check the air gap and slap in a new coil but the only place I can see that hiding is under a horizontal cover right under the throttle. The manuals I got with the machine are worthless. Does anyone know where I can go on a forum or ? and find a real manual for a Briggs and Stratton 1150 series engine? If not, I will just take off the cover and see if that is where the coil is hiding over the fly wheel..

That is close I think. Part 333. Frosty and I have a friend with 2-3 airplanes and 50 motorcycles and mini bikes, including alot of bikes from the 1970s and 80s. Yes, he has a water buffalo. Dan said
"the ignition coil is usually under the pull starter cover. Two items that are easy to overlook are a bit of rust on the flywheel magnets and coil laminations. Cleaning these off really helps get a good spark.
The other overlooked item is a sheared or partially sheared flywheel keyway that throws off ignition timing.
If it was mine I would remove the starter cover and pull the flywheel, clean off the embedded magnets and get a good look at the keyway. Then clean the coil laminations. Re-assemble and check for a nice BLUE spark. Red or yellow is no good."
I dont think I will find any rust but its easy to pull the rope starter or the top cover (shown in your breakdown) and see of I can get to the thing. I hope Dirtflyer is OK.
 
A low oil cut off switch (if it has one) could be a problem too. You can easily bypass most of them by simply unplugging it.

Another possibility is a resistor spark plug cap (if it has one) causes the same thing too. Check with ohm meter.

No low oil cutoff sw like a Honda generator.
I am not convinced the spark plug lead is good, but it is part of the coil/magnito assy, which is about 25-30 bucks. I am going to Alaska on a cruise in a week but may get a chance to take he parts off to get to the coil. The really frustrating thing about the DR is for some reason NO ONE makes an after market knife blade for it. So they want $75 with shipping for one blade for a $789 chipper. I put the new one in and there is one machine shop in Spokane that will sharpen them. I have a bunch of sharpened ones for the Troy built so I am hoping I can get it going. I cant believe there are no public available manuals for the machine or engine.
 
Well, its running. I have a suspect but no smoking gun. First, nothing I can do will produce a spark...not even a clip lead to a real ground to the electode. A few days ago, I looked into the spark plug boot and did not see an electrode...just darkness which I took for a dirty electode. I took off the boot today and low and behold there was a shiny silver electode. I took the engine apart to get a part number of the coil/magnito and clean the magnets and set the gap. No spark. And yes I checked the ground circuit and lever position. Put it all together and it starts right up. The flywheel goes back and forth about 1/8 of an inch which may explain why it leaks oil.
