Greetings.

I recently bought a 2011 Honda NT700V/A Deauville. The plan is to use this bike largely for road trips and my 1970 BMR R75/5 for local rides. First impression is I love the Honda but the saddle height is slightly too tall for my preference. My first thought was to replace the stock saddle with a cut-down Corbin saddle which should allow me to plant both feet flat when stopped. I did this with my BeeMer and while it worked fine, this option is expensive. Looking into other options, I came across the HyperPro Rear Lowering Kit for Honda’ NT700V Deauville. I contacted the company and they assured me that the kit fits my model/year. I believe the kit is made in the Netherlands but can be purchased through their distributor in USA at a cost of $83 plus shipping.

My question: Has anyone had experience with this lowering kit? I’ve maintained my old Beemer for years and have lots of wrenching experience. I looked under the Honda but could not envision where the lowering bars would attach. I look forward to hopefully getting some feedback on this potential project.

Cheers,
Doug Raleigh

Doug, I've had that lowering kit on both my '10 NTs. With the help of a friend, I did the installation on my 1st NT. The hardest part was shortening the sidestand. Then the hardest part of living with it was putting the bike on its centerstand. I had a wooden ramp that was made of two short pieces of 2X10. That worked fine for me at first. In '20, I bought my 2nd '10 NT and it had already had the lowering kit installed. Then in '22 my wife was diagnosed with Altzheimers and I didnt ride for over a year and then only once in November of '23. Now that I'm 82, I can't get the bike on that lifting ramp and I'm probably through riding. But lowering kit made a big positive difference for me. That was increased when I bought an admittedly expensive Russell Sport Saddle.

Hi Phil. Many thanks for your reply. The info you provided was crucial in helping me decide not to undertake the lowering kit project. In addition to having to shorten the side stand which I thought might be required, , I had also wondered if the lowering kit would adversely effect how easy it is to get this bike up on it’s center stand. I’m going back to get the lower cut seat. This should work fine since I really only need the saddle height lowered by an inch.

Again, thanks for you reply. Much appreciated.

Cheers,
Doug Minick
