Has anyone considered 6 speed conversion?

I have seen kits to make Harleys into 6 speed bikes. Has anyone looked to seeing if the CTX700 gears and shifters would fit into a NT700 casing?

Somehow, I don't think so but you can pursue it if you want to. I would look up the p/n's for the respective cases and if they are the same, then I would say it would work. IMHO though, you would incur a great deal of expense for little or no gain. The gear ratios selected by the Honda engineers maximize the torque curve of the NT engine. I suspect that you are wanting a few lower revs at highway speeds. Find out the final drive ratio on the CTX vs the NT and I would betcha a buck that they are nearly the same.

First of all, the engine in the CTX is a completely different animal. It's the same parallel twin found in the NC700/750X. The NT has a V-Twin derived from the NT650 Hawk (Revere in the UK) from the 1980's.

And to Mike's point, the NT just doesn't have the torque to take advantage of a higher gear. As someone who's taken a NT on high speed interstate runs across the country into strong headwinds, it struggles in 5th. I can't imagine having even tried a taller gear.

If you're at the point with the NT considering such invasive modifications, you're much better off just shopping for a different motorcycle.

doh! <slapping head>Good catch! The CTX700 slipped right past me...... yes, NewTo700V is absolutely correct, the engines are not even in the same family so a gear swap is not possible.
