Interesting new engine from Honda with electric intake compressor. I like the advancements, yet the simplicity shouldn't make it outrageously priced.

It's interesting to note that in spite of all the kerfuffle about the switch to EV's, many OEM's are still exploring new variations of the ICE. Good on them! To paraphrase Mark Twain, "the rumors of the ICE demise are greatly exaggerated".

Fascinating technology. Honda really uses their engineering creativity to its maximum advantage. Other manufacturers are abandoning ICE while Honda continues inventing. Brilliant. I look forward to this new technology.

The bike market outside California and the EU is absolutely enormous. In general, they don't want electric vehicles as they are too expensive and the infrastructure isn't there. They want cheap to buy and cheap to run vehicles.

Whether they could afford Honda's new V3 is a different argument entirely.

Honda has had this odd number V technology since the 1990s. They ran a V5 racing bike for a while, don't remember if it was MotoGP only or they ran on the AMA circuit with it. Thinking on it, it must have been AMA for sure since I believe they sold a street version for a while.

I don't recall a V5 in Honda's stable in the US but my remembery is not so good. Hopefully, DirtFlierwill weigh in as he is an American Honda vet from way back.

They built a racing motor with OVAL pistons to get around some rule. When Honda Corp puts it's mind to it, they can do amazing things.
Lately, though, the automobile part is building cars that aren't up to their expected quality. Looks like they have caught the disease from Detroit, "Build it as cheap as possible . . . some poor fool will by it."

I had forgotten about the race V-5's and oval piston engines. Cool stuff back in the day.
You guys got a couple of my brain cells to fire. I'm sure it is pretty temporary.

The NR500 was Honda's first V-4. The oval pistons accommodated 16 valves, rather than 8. Ultimately a failed experiment, but lots of the tech they developed went into later race engines.
