Every 24,000 miles I would do a major service on my 2010 ABS model which included:
Standard Service Items (oil, filters etc.)
Spark Plugs
Tappets
Change final drive oil
Change coolant
Change fork oil
Change brake fluid
Usually change tyres and check, grease and/or change wheel bearings and "moly" final drive splines
Grease or (more usually) replace steering head bearing
The bike had done 199,500 km (123,990) when I sold her
My GF's '07 had pretty exactly 22,500 miles on when I got it for her in 2019... the very next thing I got was the OEM Honda workshop manual...
Seemed that neither fork oil nor hub dampers + inserts had been changed by the PO... ever...
Those aftermarket/pattern rotors and pads didn't make me happy either...
Brake fluid? pfffff... quite some "banana milk" hidden in that ABS modulator... drew 3 bottles through the system just to be sure...
So we spent 2 days at my shop, overhauling that NT700VA from top to bottom...
Head bearings, new fork bushings, seals and oil, wheel bearings (unearthed dry bearing seals and rusty spacer tubes), loose coolant hose clamps, a wrong too long clutch cable, dry drive splines, stiff brake caliper pistons, etc...
Carefully cleaned and lubed the pannier lock cables, replaced some foggy bulbs...
Like in aviation will reliability and safety of a vehicle stand and fall with thoroughness and precision of maintenance...
Payed off, various local rides, two times Norway, one time Scotland... my GF's mount never missed a beat... currently she's closing on 90,000km/56,200miles...
