Despite seeing the remains of a bad wreck, riding in the rain for an hour, dealing with pirates, I had one additional issue today. 30 miles from home, I had dealt with some pretty gnarly construction zones and was finally moving at 65 mph with the throttle lock on when the Check engine light came on and the code "F1" came on. The bike didnt ride any different so I rode home and shorted out the connector that allows trouble codes to be shown. (F1 is meaningless) I got a C32 code which is :
On a Suzuki V-Strom, error code C32 means Injector Signal #1 (Front Cylinder). It indicates that the Electronic Control Module (ECM) is not receiving or sending the proper electrical signal to the front fuel injector. [1, 2]

Common Symptoms
    • FI Warning Light: The red warning light and "FI" (Fuel Injection) error display on the dashboard.
    • Rough Running: The engine may sputter, misfire, or run unevenly.
    • Starting Issues: The motorcycle might be difficult to start or refuse to start entirely. [1, 2]
    • Potential Causes
        • Loose or Corroded Wiring: Bad connection, pinched wire, or dirty pins in the plug leading to the front fuel injector.
        • Faulty Injector: An internal electrical failure or clog inside the front fuel injector itself.
        • Power Supply Issues: Low battery voltage or a weak ground affecting component signals. []

    • Diagnostic Steps
        • Check Connections: Locate the front fuel injector connector, unplug it, check for moisture or corrosion, and plug it back in firmly.
        • Inspect Wiring: Trace the wiring harness leading from the main loom to the front cylinder injector for any signs of rubbing or damage.
        • Test Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and tightly secured. []

    • The bike stops and starts and runs like normal and after a half hour of sitting, the check engine light went away. When I am not exhausted, I will recheck for the C32 code and maybe Chuck can tell me how to reset the code.

Back in the 2000’s, the V-Strom forum had a participant (former Suzuki technician) who, if I remember correctly, stated that FI is not “fuel injection” but rather “fault indicator”. That’s why it is meaningless. Probably coincidence that it is fuel injector related. Last I checked he was admin over the forum.

His name was GreyWolf. I believe he passed away with cancer. He was the V-Strom Guru. https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/not-such-a-little-thing-this-time.406666/

Sad....my phone contact lists are full of dead people.....I keep searching the obits for people here, actually.
Some forums, like this one, are full of good info....others, not so much. Frosty says I should read my manual and see where the connectors are for the Fuel injection system and exercise them...not a bad idea. Right now we have more active arsonists even though two were caught so I am still cleaning up my land.
I assume that the F1 is just a marketing trick to make those not mechanically adept go to the dealer. My older cars I plug an OBDii reader into and go get a Vtec relay or O2 sensor and fix the car....
