Anyone lowered a NT700?

Hello everyone!

I have had the NT700 for just under 12 months now, really enjoying the bike and plan on keeping it long term.

However, new development is that I may have a regular pillion in the future and I am looking to become a bit more stable and secure on the bike. I'm able to manage myself and I haven't dropped the bike, however, with a pillion I'd like to be a bit more stable before they get on the back with me.

I've found this video, which is really useful, but it does appear like a hell of a lot of work that I don't think I can do myself with the tools and equipment I own. The lack of garage makes it harder also.

Just looking for some advice and information if anyone has done this before or more experience with mechanics than I do, if you could provide some advice or insight into an alternative method I'd really appreciate it. As well as what the estimated cost of labour should look like?

I managed to find the kit for £70. Which isn't bad at all!

I already have Daytona lift boots, worth every penny with my 28" leg.
I was considering getting the seat reshaped, but I don't want to lose out on comfort.

Try searching in the suspension forum. Phil Tarman lowered his with a hyperpro kit.
Also keep in mind you may need to shorten the sidestand and the centerstand will be harder to use when bike is lowered.

Sorry but I have to rant. An Earth population that put a man on the moon can't design a motorcycle frame that is easy to lower????

Oh honestly its always been a frustration of mine.

Ive had so many bikes, every single one has been lowered.

I was considering a Tiger 900 GT but they again done away with their low variants.

So many people lower their motorcycles, I am so tired of having my options limited to cruisers

I hear you. From 1964 to 2000, it was never an issue. I am 6 ft 1 in. Now, seat heights are ridiculous. I am considering a Triumph Tiger Desert edition. Frosty has a low tiger and loves it. My VFR and FJR aren't too bad but they first saw light of day in last century. You should see all the Japanese gals in special thick tall boots!

It's not just the models that use them
I follow a special hostiles in Japan that caters to motorcyclists and many riders have to use elevated boots.

They have... The BMW RT is a relatively low seat height and the GSA, a bike I never thought I could ride due to it's height, has a low-suspension version and that along with the low seat make it feel just like it's brother bike the RT...

Some bikes now have auto lowering suspensions and such but I don't have any experience with those.

I agree that it would be nice if the seat frame section would be such that you could have a pretty low seat yet a taller person could just get the 'tall seat' and use the same frame.. the low-to-high adjustments of an inch or two doesn't seem to make much difference in the real world.

The salesman that I talked to at the dealership where I got my low-suspension GSA said he had to convince the owner to get the low version of the bike, they didn't think they'd sell many.... they were wrong, he has a tough time keeping them stocked. Of course, now the 1300 version of the bike has the auto lowering suspension and also auto-raising for putting on the centerstand.
