I tried two different dongles. One that fit entirely in the plug recess would never even connect successfully with my phone. A cheap corded one worked, but was very inconsistent and would someteimes take multiple tries to "do not pair" to connect. I finally just plugged the phone back in directly and will probably go in another direction, like one of the standalone Android Auto units; I have one on my Tracer 900 and it seems to work fine. I just need to come up with a reasonably priced way to attach the unit to the OEM sunshade.
I use an old Android phone, no SIM card, no cell service, WiFi/Bluetooth only, and downloaded google maps for my navigation. My good phone stays in my pocket.
