I got an email from FB that said there was an attempt to log into my FB account in Bellingham WA and that I should change my password. Click here. It said here is how you know this really is from FB.
So I deleted the email and went to my FB account and it parroted what the email said. So I changed my Password just to be sure. I see no activity I dont know but of course someone could be after the info about me. I dont use my real name.
Anyone run into this? Is it an AI bot?

What's Facebook? Is that something new?

LOL

You did the best you can..
I dont have many "friends" on FB but I do learn things from my groups, like relatives of the 15th AAF bases in Italy. Just found out one woman is daughter of a Guy named Capt. Ray R. who was the engineering officer for the 840 sq, 483rd bomb group. My Uncle knew Ray and wrote about what a good job he did in his last misson report. My Uncle's squadron was the 840th. After the war, my uncle and (I think) Ray and my Uncle's crew chief Ed kept in touch. Ed crew chiefed my Uncle's B17 "Shadrack" for 63 missions without one aborted mission. He was so good Ray promoted him to line chief and in the Korean War he made capt.

Was their aircraft named after the Biblical Shadrach as depicted in Daniel 3? If so, I'm surprised they referred to their aircraft as "her" even though feminine pronouns were common but the craft usually bore a feminine moniker.

An excellent question. I assumed it was a cartoon charactor as I have not seen any pic of the nose art. There are many meanings of the correct spelling. The planes pieces were recovered from the Alps where it crashed and are now in a rich industrialist's museum in Austria. I will ask Uncle Howard's daughter if she knows. And my forum.
Thematically: The term is associated with surviving immense, fiery trials (war) and carrying the trauma forward.

Left to right...Aunt Hoddie, Howard's wife..Wolfgang Deutsch, who brought the bits back to his factory , Cousin Sue, Uncle Col. Howard Dallman, retired. Wolfgang took as many of the plane's crew as he could in his private plane and flew over the crash site. All ten survived the war by bailing out when Uncle Howard , flying to Switzerland on 1 and a half engines, was sinking into the undercast, hit the bail out button. Despite jennising the ball turret, all the guns, ammo, etc the flak shot plane was sinking at 200 fpm. Imagine getting a letter in the 1990s (when the glaciers receeded) "Col. Dallman, we found your plane...."

Quit FB long time ago.

Nothing concrete yet. This might make sense. This is from a 1951 movie but the song predates that with Louis Armstrong.

Yes! That song refers to the Biblical Shadrach and his associates Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3. They were cast into a furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar for refusing to worship his golden idol. In spite of the intense heat in the furnace they were unharmed. This caused the King to praise their God.

And that, besides being a catchy tune, may well have been why the original crew named the plane that. Just guessing, but I doubt if my uncle howard would have changed the name of the plane when it was assigned to him, for it was a lucky plane all through its life. My Uncle's navigator was killed on the plane by flak and like my Uncle, he was married...it hurt my Uncle deeply.
No luck so far from the family. Cousin Steve was taken to Europe by Howard to see the wreck and other crash sites in CZ, and to attend a memorial service put on for the B17 crews who helped liberate Europe. My Uncle, before retiring, had his last A2 painted with Shadrack, with a RedTail protecting him. A2 1.jpg
My uncle said the third plane in this pic of four, with the wheel covering the cockpit, Is Shadrack.

Louis Armstrong was something else. They dont make them like him anymore. There were IMHO more religious oriented people back then but I think the nature of the song, though it can be viewed as religeous, was the key.... still no word from my cousin...(there was religious nose art but iMHO it was minimul....)
