My feeble recollection is that your recollection is correct Rich. But I saw the same code that Wayne cites. 55 years ago when I got out they told us not to salute when out of uniform. Now it is optional.
It seems to me that we have a high percentage of veterans in this forum and motorcycling in general. I’m not sure there’s a correlation, just my empirical observation.
